Federation of Tax Administrators: Links to all 50 States' tax forms
The Russell Library will be holding free tax assistance sessions on three Saturdays in February. The dates for the sessions are Saturday Feb 4, 11, and 18, 2012, with a snow date of February 25th. Appointments must be made in advance and these will be in 40 minute blocks. Sessions will run from 9AM to 1PM, with the last session beginning at 12:20PM, and there will be several tax preparers from Community Accounting Aid and Services, Inc. (CAAS).
Registration is required, either in person at the Information Desk or by calling 860-347-2520. Please bring last year’s tax return, all tax records, W-2 forms, 1099, property taxes paid or mortgage income if applicable and a dependant child certification if required by the IRS. Tax preparers will need day and evening telephone numbers. Income limits are as follows: individuals-$25,000, couples-$30,000, families of three-$35,000, families of 4 or more- $40,000.
Free income tax assistance by IRS trained and certified volunteers is available at the local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites for people with incomes under $50,000.
United Way 2-1-1 will schedule an appointment for you. Simply dial 2-1-1 on your phone. Appointments will be scheduled for January 24 - April 11, 2011, evenings and Saturdays.
