It has been brought to out attention that a mass mailing has been sent to many Middletown residents.
The mailing states the "Middlesex County tax authorities may have made an error when they recently assessed your property. This mistake means you may be over taxed by $1,800."
It goes on to state "For 10 minutes and a one-time fee of less than $100, it's well worth the potential savings of $1,800."
Please be advised this is a solicitation, and there has not been a recent revaluation, nor anything that would suggest and over assessment or error in assessments. The assessments included in the notice are not accurate, and do not reflect the properties actual assessment. Further, there is no such thing as "Middlesex County tax authorities" as there is no form of County government in Connecticut.
Citizens who receive this solicitation are advised not to respond or send money. Taxpayers are encouraged to contact the Assessor's Office directly if there are questions regarding the assessed value of property. All property information is available for free simply by logging on to http://middletown.univers-clt.com/, or by visiting the Assessor's Office.
